Yemeni forces say Houthis mobilized over 76,000 fighters
In Yemen, forces supporting the government said that the Houthis had mobilized more than 76,000 people for recent fighting on the country’s western coast. National Resistance Forces spokesperson Major General Sadiq Dwaid claims that the operations were aimed at establishing control over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Statement by the National Resistance Forces
As Anadolu Agency reports, Dwaid wrote on social network X that the operations were allegedly planned and prepared over several months. According to him, they were carried out under the direct orders of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, with Iranian and Lebanese experts also involved in command.
The National Resistance Forces said they defended a 170-kilometer section of the front, as well as beaches and islands. According to the figures they provided, 130 ballistic missiles, 145 kamikaze drones, and 15 explosive boats were launched between August 9 and September 9.

Attacks on Tariq Saleh’s positions
Dwaid noted that 23 missiles and 18 drones were directed at the positions of Lieutenant General Tariq Saleh, commander of the National Resistance Forces and deputy chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.
Since April 2022, Yemen had experienced relative calm after nearly 12 years of war between government forces supported by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition and the Iran-backed Houthis. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and significant parts of the country since 2014. Since late 2023, they have become more actively involved in regional hostilities, attacking Israel and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The recent resumption of fighting has heightened concerns about a return to full-scale conflict in Yemen.
