Son of man killed in Israel recounts father’s warning during attack — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, 16-year-old Yoav Chkroun said that his father, Netanel Chkroun, managed to warn him about the attacker during a shooting near the Ein Raya spring, close to Neve Tzuf. According to the teenager, the warning allowed him to escape, while his father was killed.
Warning in the car
As the Jerusalem Post reports, the father and son got into a car after a ritual immersion on the eve of Yom Kippur. Netanel Chkroun was sitting in the second row of seats, while Yoav was in the front passenger seat.
“Suddenly, he shouted to me: ‘Yoav, there’s a terrorist here,’ or ‘Yoav, this is an attack’ — something like, ‘Run!’” Yoav told KAN News. According to him, before his father’s shout, he did not realize that an attack was taking place, and the attacker was already standing just a few centimeters from the car door.

Yoav said that the attacker opened fire toward his father. He climbed between the seats on the driver’s side, opened the door and ran. The teenager hid in bushes on the other side of the road and remained there until the military arrived.
Netanel Chkroun’s family
During the funeral, Yoav thanked his father for saving him: “Thank you, Dad, for what you told me and for saving me.”
According to the Samaria Regional Council, Netanel Chkroun was the father of six children and worked as an information systems analyst at the Hachshara insurance company. His wife, Dr. Merav Chkroun, teaches at Ariel University. Yoav is the eldest son in the family and an 11th-grade student, while the Chkrouns’ youngest child is four years old.
