SpaceX and Blue Origin will not take part in the space summit in Paris — Politico Europe
US space companies SpaceX, Blue Origin, Stoke Space and Starcloud have declined to participate in the international space summit scheduled to take place next week in Paris. Politico Europe reports, citing a representative of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space.
Four companies cancelled their participation
According to the French official, on Thursday the companies informed the French authorities that they were cancelling their participation in the event. SpaceX is associated with Elon Musk, Blue Origin with Jeff Bezos. Stoke Space is a rocket manufacturer, while startup Starcloud is working on launching data centres into space.
Politico reports that the companies decided not to participate in the summit following pressure from the administration of US President Donald Trump, which sought to persuade the firms to withdraw from the event.

Reaction from the French side
A representative of the French ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the summit's details, said that it was “hard not to see a connection” between the cancellations and media reports about pressure on the companies.
He added that France seeks to continue cooperation with US partners and allies, although strategic changes and political pressure sometimes make this task more difficult. At the same time, other US companies will still participate in the Paris event. Politico contacted all four companies for comment.
