The Speaker of the Polish Sejm suggested that Zelenskyy might not come to Gdańsk

Włodzimierz Czazasty, Speaker of the Polish Sejm, expressed doubt regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s participation in the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery, which will take place on June 25–26 in Gdańsk.

According to the Polish politician, the strain in relations between Kyiv and Warsaw caused by recent political disputes could influence the Ukrainian leader’s decision regarding a visit to Poland.

Speaking on a Polish television channel, Czazasty stated that the current situation surrounding Ukrainian-Polish relations is marked by excessive emotions, which could complicate dialogue between the parties.

I think President Navrotsky knew what he was doing. The question is, will the situation calm down after President Navrotsky’s decision? Or, on the contrary, are we heading toward conflict? (…) If Zelenskyy does not come to Gdańsk, is that a good idea for business in the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction?” Chazhasty noted.

The politician effectively suggested that the President of Ukraine might decline to participate in the conference due to tensions in bilateral relations that arose following a series of high-profile political decisions and statements between Kyiv and Warsaw.

At the same time, Chazhasty emphasized that Zelenskyy’s possible absence from the event could negatively impact international discussions on Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and the involvement of the business community in related projects.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga previously stated that the final decision on the Ukrainian delegation’s participation in the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery would be made following a briefing to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The conference in Gdańsk is set to become one of the key international forums dedicated to Ukraine’s reconstruction, attracting investment, and coordinating assistance from international partners.

He made these remarks during an appearance on Polsat News.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that a decision on Ukraine’s participation in the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, to be held on June 25–26 in Gdańsk, will be made in the near future.

Ukraine calls on Poland to make measured decisions and engage in diplomatic dialogue amid a new escalation in bilateral relations.

The third President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, emphasized that in relations between Ukraine and Poland, it is important to maintain the political formula of “we forgive and ask for forgiveness.”

Former Polish Sejm deputy Piotr Fogler returned his state award—the “Golden Cross of Merit”—to the president as a sign of protest and solidarity with Ukraine.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced that he had returned the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, which he received in 2011 for developing regional cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish cities.

On June 20, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko also announced that he was renouncing his Polish state order, emphasizing that this step was not directed against the Polish people; at the same time, he also made critical remarks about incumbent President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Earlier, Zelenskyy had sent Navrotsky the Order of the White Eagle via Nova Poshta.

Following this, Leonid Kuchma declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.

Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, also declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.

In addition, Borys Tarasyuk will return his Polish order due to Navrotsky’s policies.
