The U.S. has not approved the production of Patriot systems in European countries
The U.S. has not granted permission for the licensed production of Patriot air defense missile systems in Europe. At the same time, Washington stated that the issue is under consideration, but no final decision on localizing production has been made yet, according to media reports on June 17.
The U.S. has not granted permission for the production of Patriot air defense systems in Europe, but the matter will be considered.
A G7 official told Suspilne about this. Specifically, he said that the U.S. has committed to considering the matter, but no decision has been made regarding licensing in Europe.
“This is one way to increase production,” the source said.
He noted that this makes sense given Washington’s use of these air defense systems in another conflict zone.
“So, the more industrial capacity you have for air defense systems, the better,” the official said.
He added that during the meeting between the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this issue was discussed—primarily how to overcome certain delays involved in obtaining the necessary number of interceptors.
As a reminder, Ukraine may receive Patriot missiles that are nearing the end of their service life, according to the Foreign Ministry
