US rejects global control over superintelligence — Anadolu Agency

The United States said at a UN Security Council meeting that it completely rejects attempts to create a global framework for controlling superintelligence. US President Donald Trump used this term in reference to artificial intelligence in his UN speech. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

White House position

Michael Kratsios, head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said that international dialogue at the Security Council and other venues should not evolve into global governance. According to him, the United States, which he called a leader in advanced superintelligence, has taken steps to ensure the technology is developed safely and responsibly.

Kratsios also said that, in Washington's view, there are no grounds to pause the further development of superintelligence or constrain it with new global governance structures.

Regulation at the state level

The White House representative called on countries to independently adopt laws and rules to regulate artificial intelligence instead of creating a global system. He noted that the technology's potential can be realized through open cooperation, sovereign infrastructure, and the development of countries' domestic capabilities.

Earlier during the same meeting, the heads of OpenAI and Anthropic said that no single actor should dominate the field of artificial intelligence. They also called for international cooperation to manage risks associated with the development of this technology.
