Starmer warned of the threat of attacks via proxy servers
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed growing concern over attacks that, he said, may be carried out by foreign states via proxy servers, making them difficult to trace and establishing direct responsibility. He emphasized that such tactics are becoming increasingly common and pose new challenges to the country’s national security. The statement came amid discussions about threats related to cybersecurity and the influence of foreign states, Sky News reports.
According to Keir Starmer, British authorities are observing a trend in which certain states use intermediary digital tools, particularly proxy servers, to carry out attacks on British territory while avoiding direct identification.
“I am increasingly concerned that a number of countries are using proxy servers to carry out attacks in this country,” Starmer said.
He did not specify any particular incidents, but emphasized that such methods complicate the work of security services and require strengthened cybersecurity and international coordination in countering such threats.
