Donald Trump stated that the new ballroom at the White House will be transformed into a massive underground complex with six levels below ground and security systems designed to protect against drones and missiles. According to him, it will not simply be a venue for events, but effectively a fortified facility with elements of military infrastructure, Fox News reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump shared details about the new construction on the White House grounds, where a ballroom is being built in place of the demolished East Wing. According to him, it will have a completely different scale and functionality than typical presidential residential projects.

“There are already two floors here. The depth is about six stories. This is a serious thing,” Trump said, explaining that the building actually extends deep underground and resembles a fortified complex more than a classic reception hall.

According to him, the structure will be built from high-strength steel and glass, which he called “impenetrable” and capable of withstanding heavy loads, and the interior is planned to house conference rooms, research spaces, and security infrastructure.

Separately, Trump emphasized that the new facility will be protected from drones and that the roof’s design will allegedly cause drones to “bounce off,” while the roof itself can be used as a platform for the military and even as a launch or control area for drones tasked with ensuring Washington’s security.

“This will be a gift to the country and perhaps the most beautiful building in Washington,” the president said, emphasizing that the project is allegedly funded by donors and private sponsors, not taxpayer money.

At the same time, the project has already sparked controversy in the U.S., as, according to media reports, its cost has increased severalfold, and part of the political debate in Congress centers on whether public funds could be indirectly involved through security and modernization programs.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

At the same time, Trump once again repeated the threats he has been making in recent weeks: “If they agree, it’s all over, and if not—we’ll bomb them.”

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.
