South Park writer launches website over Cornell sexual assault lawsuit — Deutsche Welle

In the United States, screenwriter Toby Morton, who wrote several episodes of the animated series South Park, has launched TheCornell7.org in connection with a case involving the alleged sexual assault of a Cornell University student in Ithaca, New York. The resource publishes the names, photographs and personal details of seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity whom the plaintiff accuses of sexual assault.

As Deutsche Welle reports, the lawsuit was filed on September 16 by a woman identified in court documents as Jane Doe to protect her identity. She alleges that in 2024, seven Chi Phi members sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious after she was allegedly induced to consume ketamine, marijuana and alcohol. The lawsuit also alleges that the university failed to protect her.

Case review resumed

Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten said his office had resumed its review of the case and planned to present evidence to a grand jury. According to him, the prosecutor’s office is considering filing criminal charges.

More current news is available on the UA.News Telegram channel Telegram.

At the same time, Van Houten said the allegations in the civil lawsuit “differ strikingly” from the woman’s statement to police made two years earlier. He noted that at the time, she did not claim that she had been drugged without her knowledge or that she had not consented to sexual acts.

Disciplinary measures and reaction

The lawsuit states that at about 1:42 a.m., a message was allegedly sent to the Chi Phi Snapchat group inviting members to come to a room where the student was under the strong influence of alcohol and drugs. The plaintiff’s attorney, Thomas Giuffra, told CBS that two of the seven students were expelled and the others received less severe disciplinary sanctions. According to him, none of them was arrested.

The Chi Phi chapter was banned from the university campus after the alleged 2024 incident. According to the attorney, the plaintiff also left Cornell University. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, actress Florence Pugh and actor Josh Gad commented on the case, calling for greater accountability in cases of sexual violence.
