Israeli court allows naming Gaza Division intelligence officer on October 7 — Jerusalem Post

Israel’s High Court of Justice has allowed the name of the Gaza Division intelligence officer who held the post during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, to be made public. The officer is Lieutenant Colonel Arye Amidrour, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Court decision

Arye Amidrour is the son of Yaakov Amidrour, the former head of Israel’s National Security Council. According to the publication, Yaakov Amidrour commented on events on various television channels throughout the war.

The Jerusalem Post writes that Amidrour is considered to have firmly rejected the likelihood of Hamas carrying out a raid scenario known as the “Jericho Wall” plan. According to the publication, the plan was fully carried out on the morning of October 7.

Warning from Unit 8200

Servicewoman W. from Unit 8200 of military intelligence, according to the Jerusalem Post, tried to warn Amidrour that she had identified signs of Hamas preparing for a raid and believed the plan was ready to be implemented. The division’s intelligence officer dismissed her concerns, calling the scenario entirely imaginary.

In late September 2023, W. again approached Gaza Division commanders after identifying unusual Hamas activity. As the publication notes, Amidrour replied that a raid was unlikely and decided to discuss the matter after the Sukkot holiday.
