A Russian court has definitively disqualified Yabloko from the State Duma elections

The Russian Supreme Court rejected the “Yabloko” party’s appeal and upheld the decision to remove its federal slate from the State Duma elections.

On August 10, in response to a lawsuit filed by the Rodina party, the court barred Yabloko from participating in the elections. The plaintiffs alleged that the party had infringed on copyrights in its campaign materials and had received foreign funding.

On August 17, during the appeal hearing outside the Supreme Court building, Russian police detained more than 85 people.

Thus, the decision to bar “Yabloko” from the parliamentary elections remains in effect.

The Pskov City Court in Russia sentenced Lev Shlosberg, deputy chairman of the Yabloko party, to 11 years and 1 month in a penal colony. The 63-year-old politician was found guilty of spreading so-called “fake news” about the Russian army and repeatedly “discrediting” the military.

Earlier, a court in Moscow had banned the Yabloko party from participating in the parliamentary elections.
