Pakistan court suspends directive to return Afghan students
The Lahore High Court in Pakistan has suspended a directive by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) requiring Afghan medical students to return to Afghanistan.
Students' petitions
Judge Khalid Ishaq issued the decision while hearing petitions filed by 13 Afghan students. They study at various educational institutions in Lahore, including King Edward Medical University, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical and Dental College, and the Services Institute of Medical Sciences.

Restrictions on education
The petitions were filed after the PMDC issued a notice on September 1 requiring Afghan medical students enrolled in Pakistani colleges to return to Afghanistan.
The same notice prohibited medical and dental colleges from admitting Afghan students or offering them places for the current academic year. During the hearing, Judge Ishaq also requested responses from the parties before the next hearing.
