At least 58 people have been killed as Typhoon Kalmaegi swept through the central Philippines, causing widespread flooding, landslides, and destruction across Cebu and nearby regions. State weather agency PAGASA reported that Kalmaegi, which weakened after landfall, is regaining strength over the South China Sea and heading toward Vietnam. Footage showed submerged homes and stranded residents wading through deep floodwaters.

Vietnamese authorities have placed coastal regions on high alert, suspending flights and maritime operations as the storm approaches. Kalmaegi is expected to make landfall Thursday night, bringing more heavy rains to already flood-hit areas.
