Trump and Zelenskyy agree to meet in New York — Channel NewsAsia
US President Donald Trump plans to hold bilateral meetings during his two-day visit to New York, US, for the UN General Assembly, including with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Trump is due to arrive in New York on Monday afternoon for political events at Trump Tower. On Tuesday morning, he will address the UN General Assembly. US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz said that in his speech, the president would discuss his administration's actions on complex international problems, including the issue of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Meeting with Zelenskyy
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a social media post that he had agreed with Trump to meet in New York. The Ukrainian president did not specify the date, but a Reuters source familiar with the matter said that talks were expected on Tuesday. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on a possible meeting.

Trump also plans separate talks with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The meeting with Burnham will be the first in-person meeting between the two leaders.
Talks on Iran
On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Trump will also take part in a meeting with leaders of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. According to Reuters, one of the topics may be the conflict between the US and Israel and Iran, which has lasted for more than six months. After that, the US president will host a reception for representatives of the council, where he is expected to meet Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodríguez in person for the first time.
On Monday, Trump is also due to meet New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at his official residence, Gracie Mansion. The mayor's office said the conversation would concern issues important to New York and its residents.
