Trump may cut off support for Ukraine due to allies' betrayal – U.S. ambassador
U.S. President Donald Trump has begun reviewing the policy on supporting European initiatives aimed at assisting Ukraine.
This was announced on NewsMax by U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker. According to the diplomat, all possible options for Washington’s next steps are currently on the table, as the American leader is reviewing foreign policy priorities.
Whitaker emphasized that the review concerns not only the Ukrainian issue but also the U.S.’s direct participation in NATO and other international commitments. The diplomat stressed that Trump is guided exclusively by the “America First” principle in his decisions, and the government will act in accordance with the president’s intentions as soon as they are finalized. The review of support comes amid statements by administration officials regarding a possible redirection of resources to the Middle East due to the escalating conflict with Iran. Currently, European allies are awaiting official clarification regarding the scope of future cooperation within the Alliance.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is seriously considering the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO. According to him, this is due to the fact that the Alliance did not join the U.S. operation against Iran.
The United Kingdom has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement regarding the country’s possible withdrawal from NATO. Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized his commitment to the Alliance and assured that he would not allow the country to be drawn into war.
