Trump has started selling early access to his posts
Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), a company owned by Donald Trump’s family that operates the social media platform Truth Social, has launched a paid service called Truth API.
The tool provides financial institutions, funds, and investment firms with access to a licensed real-time data feed of the U.S. president’s posts.
The main value of the service lies in the speed of information delivery. Market participants and high-frequency traders receive notifications a few milliseconds earlier than ordinary users or traditional media outlets. Since Donald Trump regularly announces key economic decisions, the imposition of new tariffs, and political initiatives directly on his account, this head start provides a significant advantage for executing financial transactions.
This approach has sparked debate regarding ethics and a potential conflict of interest. The president’s official statements are effectively monetized by a private company in which Trump himself owns a 41% stake, allowing him to derive direct financial benefit from the sale of subscriptions to his own posts.
