Trump is rapidly losing public support after a year in office, according to The Times

After the first year of his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump is rapidly losing political support and a portion of the electorate. At the same time, analysts note that some of his campaign promises have, in fact, been fulfilled.

This is reported by The Times.

Political scientists note that the first year of Trump’s new term was marked by radical domestic and foreign policy changes that led to political turbulence. Despite promises to avoid new conflicts, experts say the U.S. administration’s actions have contributed to escalating international tensions and economic instability.

During the election campaign, Trump declared a policy of non-intervention in foreign conflicts. In his inaugural address, he emphasized:

“I will measure success not only by the battles we win, but by the wars we end—and, perhaps most importantly, the wars we never enter.”

However, according to YouGov polls, voters are increasingly demanding that the president focus on the domestic economy rather than foreign policy crises. According to sociologists, additional dissatisfaction is caused by “tariff chaos,” which is undermining confidence in the economic course.

The reports also note that, despite claims of inflation stability at around 3%, economic assessments of the White House’s policies are deteriorating. By comparison, under the previous Biden administration, inflation reached about 9%.

According to Gallup, at this stage of his presidency, Trump’s approval ratings are lower than those of Barack Obama and Joe Biden during their respective terms. Analysts note that his so-called “honeymoon” with voters has effectively ended.

Separately, experts highlight statements regarding cryptocurrency policy. Trump promised to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world,” and the White House even began establishing a government crypto reserve. At the same time, according to analysts, the market reacted erratically, notably with a sharp drop in early 2026.

The only area where the administration, according to sociologists, achieved a noticeable result is its policy on illegal immigration. At the same time, these measures were accompanied by public criticism and protests due to incidents involving the use of force by immigration authorities.

Only 35% of Americans currently approve of Donald Trump’s performance as U.S. president, one of the lowest figures during his two terms.

Prior to this, Donald Trump’s approval rating had dropped to a critical 36%, a significant decline from the start of his term, when the U.S. president had a 47% approval rating.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has emerged as the leading conservative contender for the upcoming presidential election.
