Trump was late for the G7 meeting and joked that he was the boss
U.S. President Donald Trump arrived at the G7 leaders’ summit on Wednesday nearly an hour late, immediately drawing the attention of journalists and meeting participants.
As he entered the hall, the American leader complained about the hot weather and, on his way to his seat, joked, “I’m the boss here.”
At the start of the meeting, which was closed to the press, journalists were granted brief access to take photos. Seizing the moment, Trump addressed the media: “Do you want to stay for the meeting? I don’t mind.”
However, the French side promptly asked the journalists to leave the hall in accordance with the summit’s rules of procedure.
During the meeting, participants discussed a number of key global issues, including:
- global economic security
- supply chains for critical minerals
- global macroeconomic imbalances
Trump’s tardiness and his lighthearted remarks became one of the most talked-about moments of the meeting, adding an informal touch to the official talks among the G7 leaders.
As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his satisfaction with the official invitation to a gala dinner at the Palace of Versailles following the conclusion of the first day of the G7 summit.
