Zuckerberg Wants to Launch a New App for Predictions and Betting — NYT
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has commissioned the development of a new mobile app for prediction markets, tentatively titled Arena, which is intended to compete with the popular platforms Polymarket and Kalshi.
According to the publication, the new service will operate separately from Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Initially, users will be able to make predictions using a points system, without using real money, although that option may be added in the future.
Meta plans to promote Arena through its multi-billion-strong social media audience. The project is described as experimental but is one of the company’s top priorities.
Meta is also working on other standalone apps, including Meta Photos and platforms for creating content using artificial intelligence.
