In the UK, a truck driver was convicted of smuggling cocaine hidden in a shipment of Skims clothing
In the United Kingdom, a court sentenced a truck driver to 13.5 years in prison for attempting to smuggle cocaine worth approximately £7 million ($9.4 million). The drugs were hidden in a shipment of clothing from the Skims brand, owned by Kim Kardashian.
This was reported by the AP.
According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), 40-year-old Jakub Jan Konkel was transporting a truck with 28 pallets of Skims underwear and clothing from the Netherlands when he was stopped by border guards at a port in Essex.
The investigation revealed that 90 kilograms of cocaine, packaged in 1-kilogram bags, were hidden in the truck’s rear door compartment.
According to the NCA, the clothing shipment was legal, and neither the exporter nor the importer was involved in the smuggling.
Konkel himself stated that he agreed to transport the drugs for a fee of 4,500 euros.
As a result, he was sentenced to 13.5 years in prison by the Chelmsford Crown Court for drug smuggling.
