The Trump administration has announced a compensation fund — CNN

On May 19, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump announced its intention to establish a fund of approximately $1.8 billion to provide payments to his supporters. According to the initiators, the fund is intended to compensate individuals who allegedly suffered unfair persecution during the previous administration. Details of the payment mechanism have not yet been disclosed.

CNN reported this.

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the creation of a $1.776 billion fund to compensate Trump supporters who claim they suffered unfair persecution under the Biden administration.

This unprecedented move means that such individuals will be able to receive payments funded by taxpayers. Trump has repeatedly claimed that his supporters have faced unfair persecution—such as in the large-scale prosecution of active participants in the January 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol.

“This will be compensation for people who were treated horribly. They will be reimbursed for legal fees and everything else they had to go through,” Trump said, commenting on the announcement.

A five-member commission is set to manage the fund, with Trump having the authority to fire any of its members. All claims are expected to be processed by December 15, 2028—one month before the end of Trump’s second term.

The Justice Department noted that Trump himself will receive nothing as part of this move. The initiative is expected to face significant resistance from Democrats and public organizations that oversee the spending of public funds.

Indeed, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has already called the creation of the fund a blatant move. “Of all the corrupt things Trump has done, this is one of the most egregious,” he said.

Earlier, Trumppointed to the catastrophic consequences of a mistake in choosing a successor—Fortune.

On May 18, U.S. President Donald Trump published an AI-generated image in which he is allegedly depicted alongside an “alien” and accompanied by “space forces.”

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to hold a meeting with his national security team this week to discuss possible military action against Iran. According to Axios on May 18, these discussions are taking place amid deteriorating diplomatic efforts and rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
