The tenth deployment of the MCM Black Sea mine countermeasures group has begun in the Black Sea
On June 17, the tenth activation of the MCM Black Sea joint mine countermeasures task force is taking place in the Black Sea, with the participation of ships from the navies of Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania. The operation is aimed at enhancing the safety of navigation and clearing the waters of mines.
“The 10th activation of the MCM Black Sea Task Force, established to enhance maritime safety and counter the mine threat in the Black Sea, is being conducted under Turkish command from June 13 to 24, 2026,” the statement reads.
Minesweepers from the navies of Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria are participating in the operation. The Turkish side is represented by the ships TCG Ütğm. Arif Ekmekçi and TCG Ayvalık; the Romanian side by ROS CPT Constantin Dumitrescu; and the Bulgarian side by BGS Priboy.
The main objective of the group is to strengthen regional maritime security and develop capabilities for joint countermeasures against mine threats. MCM Black Sea also contributes to strengthening military cooperation among Black Sea countries and ensuring the safety of navigation in the region, Haber24 reports.
