German police raided the Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf
German police conducted a large-scale operation at the Ukrainian Consulate General in Düsseldorf. Law enforcement officers also searched the area surrounding the diplomatic mission following a threat alert.
The security situation, which was initially unclear, led to a major police operation near the Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf on Thursday evening.
A police spokesperson confirmed upon inquiry that an operation was underway near the building. The operation was prompted by a report of a possible threat, which the police were investigating.
The operation reportedly began around 5:30 p.m.
According to dpa, a large area around the Consulate General was cordoned off. Police also blocked off a section of road in downtown Düsseldorf with caution tape. Several police vehicles were present at the scene.
According to the police, officers searched the building and the surrounding area. However, the threat was not confirmed.
Therefore, the operation was concluded at approximately 7:15 p.m. The police did not provide any further details.
