In Düsseldorf, German police are conducting a large-scale operation near the Consulate General of Ukraine. Law enforcement officials have reported an unclear situation that may pose a danger, but have not yet disclosed the specific reason for the call.

 

The area around the consulate has been cordoned off, and several police vehicles are stationed near the building. According to a police spokeswoman, law enforcement is conducting a major operation in the vicinity of the Consulate General of Ukraine. The reason is a so-called unclear and dangerous situation. The police have not yet disclosed exactly what happened. There is also no information on whether it involves a suspicious object, a potential threat to people, or another incident.

The area around the building has been cordoned off with police tape. A section of a street in downtown Düsseldorf has been closed to traffic. Several police crews and special vehicles are on the scene. Law enforcement officers are searching the area and investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Specifically, on September 9 in the neighboring town of Meerbusch, a man reported to police that he had allegedly found bottles containing a flammable mixture. He later attacked law enforcement officers with a knife, after which a police officer fired his weapon. The man was wounded and taken to the hospital.

However, there is currently no information linking this incident to the situation near the Ukrainian consulate. These events occurred separately.

Is this connected to Russia?

Widespread reports mention Russian espionage activities in Germany. At the same time, German police have not yet stated that the current situation near the Ukrainian consulate is linked to Russia or Russian intelligence services.
