46 people drowned in Finland over the summer
In Finland, 46 people drowned during June, July and August. This was reported by the Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation (SUH), which released preliminary data.

In June, July and August last year, 45 people drowned in Finland — one fewer than this summer.

SUH noted that the number of drowning cases has decreased in the long term. At the same time, figures for the summer months have remained relatively stable over the past ten years.
August data
Fourteen people drowned in August this year. Four cases were related to travel by water transport, while another two occurred while swimming.
The circumstances of eight drowning cases remain unclear, according to the association. The statistics provided are preliminary.
