Christophe Rivenc, the mayor of Ale in southeastern France, was urgently placed under police protection following a series of threats.
According to media reports, on the night of July 21, police evacuated the mayor from his home after receiving information about a possible car bomb near his residence. Law enforcement officials have also launched an investigation into the threats.
Earlier, Rivenc’s wife found a suspicious envelope in the mailbox, which contained two 9mm bullets. In addition, threatening messages began appearing on the walls of the house.
According to media reports, the threats may be linked to the mayor’s active fight against drug trafficking.
