France hosts David Guttenfelder exhibition on ICE in Minneapolis
The New York Times photojournalist David Guttenfelder is presenting the exhibition “People of Minneapolis vs. ICE” at the Visa pour l’Image festival in Perpignan, France. As France 24 reports, the series documents the federal intensification of immigration enforcement and fatal confrontations involving the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) in Minneapolis.
Working in his own city
This year, Guttenfelder turned his camera toward events in Minneapolis. On the arts24 program, he spoke about photographing ICE operations in his city, as well as the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Experience in international reporting
Guttenfelder has been photographing historic events around the world for 35 years. He is known for his work in Rwanda, North Korea and conflict zones in different parts of the world.
The photojournalist also recalled his experience working after the killing of George Floyd. In the conversation, he reflected on what it means to document historic events taking place close to home.
