Share of A1–C6 grades in Social Studies rises in Ghana’s WASSCE 2026
In Ghana, Social Studies recorded the best result among the four core subjects in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): 78.04% of candidates received grades from A1 to C6. MyJoyOnline reports, citing statistics from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Results in Social Studies and Mathematics
The Social Studies figure rose significantly compared with 2025, when 55.82% of candidates received grades A1–C6. The 2026 result also exceeded the figures for 2023 and 2024 — 76.76% and 71.53%, respectively.
Positive dynamics were also recorded in Mathematics. The share of candidates who received grades from A1 to C6 in Core Mathematics increased from 48.73% in 2025 to 60.75% in 2026. At the same time, this result remains below the 2023 figure of 62.23%.

Decline in English Language results
Results in Integrated Science also improved: the share of A1–C6 grades rose from 57.74% in 2025 to 62.08% in 2026.
By contrast, a decline was recorded in English Language. In 2026, 62.40% of candidates received grades from A1 to C6, compared with 69.00% in 2025. According to WAEC data for 2023–2026, English Language was the only one of the four core subjects in which a gradual decline in results was observed.
