Ghana begins repairing faulty ambulances — MyJoyOnline
Ghana’s National Ambulance Service has launched Operation Restore Fleet to repair faulty vehicles and return them to service across the country. Repairs are under way at the service’s central workshop in Korle Bu, MyJoyOnline reports.
Vehicle repairs
Under the programme, technicians and engineers are working to restore vehicles, reduce downtime and improve the service’s readiness to respond to emergency calls. Most of the work concerns vehicles that suffered serious mechanical failures after six years of intensive operation across the country.
The service said it aims to return as many vehicles as possible to operation. At the same time, vehicles whose repair is economically impractical will be identified separately and properly accounted for.

Fleet monitoring
The Director-General of the National Ambulance Service, Dr George Kojo Owusu, visited the workshop together with the leadership. He noted the progress of the work and the staff’s efforts, as well as progress in classifying vehicles as fit or unfit for operation to ensure more effective maintenance.
The service is also introducing fleet management software intended to strengthen monitoring, maintenance planning and decision-making. Surveillance cameras are being installed at the workshop to protect property and enhance accountability.
