Five-day AI and robotics camp opens in Ghana for schoolchildren
A five-day summer educational camp on artificial intelligence and robotics has opened in Ghana, involving 100 students from 19 schools. The program is intended to give children practical experience with artificial intelligence, robotics, programming and other emerging technologies, MyJoyOnline reports.
Training for four age groups
Participants were divided by age and educational level to tailor the classes to their needs. The basic group included children aged six to eight, the junior group included those aged nine to 11, the intermediate group included those aged 12 to 14, and the senior group included students aged 15 to 18.
Visual and block-based tasks are planned for younger participants. Older participants will study robotics and programming, work on independent design and solve more complex practical tasks.

The ministry’s position
Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation Samuel Nartey George confirmed the government’s intention to introduce young Ghanaians to emerging technologies. A statement on his behalf was delivered by the director of innovation at the camp’s opening.
According to George, the camp’s practical format will enable participants to experiment, develop projects and apply knowledge to solve real-world tasks. He noted that the development of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation is changing business, the economy and the labor sector.
The minister also said that the initiative complements the government’s digital skills development agenda and supports the goals of Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. He urged participants to learn with curiosity, discipline and openness, and called on parents, teachers, mentors and partners to support young innovators after the camp ends.
