In the US, Patrick Clancy’s lawyer warns of legal consequences over online misinformation
In the United States, in Massachusetts, Patrick Clancy’s lawyer said there could be legal consequences for those spreading false claims online about his client’s alleged involvement in the deaths of three children in 2023. Patrick Clancy has been ruled out as a suspect in the case.
As CBC News reports, Boston lawyer Howard Cooper called the campaign against Clancy and his family an “unrelenting, increasingly widespread and destructive campaign of defamation.” According to him, the misinformation is being spread by minor celebrities, influencers and conspiracy theory supporters seeking to increase their audience and potential profits.
Lawyer’s statement
Cooper said the campaign has resulted in real threats to Patrick Clancy’s reputation, livelihood and life. He added that law enforcement has already been informed, and those responsible for such publications may face consequences.

According to the lawyer, his client wants to focus on preserving the memory of the children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — and supporting women facing perinatal mental health problems.
Trial ended without a verdict
Patrick Clancy’s former wife, 36-year-old Lindsay Clancy, was charged with the murder of the three children. Prosecutors told Plymouth County Superior Court that she planned for her husband to be away from home in order to commit the murders.
The defense did not dispute the fact of the killings, but insisted that Lindsay Clancy was not criminally responsible due to bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis. On September 4, after seven days of deliberations, the panel of 12 jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision, so the judge declared the trial concluded without a verdict. The next hearing is scheduled for September 29, when the parties are to discuss further steps.
