In Ghana, tricycle driver sentenced to three months in prison for biting police assistant
A court in Nkawie, Ghana, sentenced 24-year-old tricycle driver Abdul Aziz to three months in prison for biting a community police assistant. The man pleaded guilty to negligently causing harm, MyJoyOnline reports.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on September 3, 2026, at about 8:40 a.m. in Nkawie, in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. Officers from the Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department, led by Chief Inspector Abedi Larbi, were patrolling the town and stopped a Pragya tricycle with registration number M-25-A-3722.
During the check, law enforcement officers found that the driver did not have a licence or other required documents. Community police assistant Alhassan Seidu was assigned to escort him to the station for further action.

Altercation on the way to the station
Police prosecutor Inspector Kwaku Frimpong told the court, presided over by Robert Addo, that the driver headed in a different direction on the way to the station. Seidu instructed him to proceed to the police station, but the man failed to comply and attacked the assistant, after which an altercation broke out between them.
According to the prosecution, during the altercation Aziz bit Seidu on the chest. The assistant called for help, and young people nearby helped apprehend him. In his statements after his arrest, the man admitted to what he had done, and following further investigation, the case was sent to court.
