Probable tornado damages school in Hainan, China, no injuries reported
In the city of Wanning in China’s Hainan Province, a probable tornado damaged facilities at the Experimental School of Beijing Normal University on September 14. The weather phenomenon was recorded at approximately 10:25 local time. According to local authorities, there were no deaths or injuries, ECNS reports.

The Wanning Meteorological Bureau determined the nature of the weather phenomenon following an on-site inspection and analysis. The tornado was preliminarily classified as EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

Damage on school grounds
As a result of the severe weather, the fence around the sports ground collapsed. A 20-meter fence around the discus-throwing sector and football goals were also knocked down.
Other recorded damage included broken trees and damaged lamp posts. Local authorities reported that the tornado damaged the school’s infrastructure.
