In Ghana, a delegation of female government representatives visited the Asantehemaa
In Kumasi, Ghana, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance, led a delegation of female government representatives on a courtesy visit to Nana Yaa Akyaa II, the Asantehemaa of Asanteman. The meeting on September 14 took place at Manhyia Palace and aimed to congratulate the recently nominated queen mother and reaffirm the importance of cooperation between the government and traditional leadership.
As MyJoyOnline reports, the delegation included staff from the Office of the President, ministers and their deputies, national executives, heads of institutions and chief executive officers, leading members of the parliamentary majority, as well as representatives of local and regional authorities in the Ashanti Region.
Ceremony at Manhyia Palace
Upon arrival, royal family member Amankwa Amoateng introduced the delegation to the Asantehemaa and her family. Through her okyeame, or spokesperson, the Asantehemaa welcomed the guests. Later, the Mampoghmaa, Ahenefoghemaа and other members of the royal family also greeted the delegates, while each participant was introduced in turn to Nana Yaa Akyaa II to traditional drum rhythms.

Among those present were Bank of Ghana Deputy Governor Matilda Asante-Asiedu, CID Director-General Lydia Yaako Donkor, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, and Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Naa Sarpong.
Gifts and partnership
The delegation presented the Asantehemaa with traditional fabrics, schnapps, a ram, various drinks and food items: bottled water, tea, Milo, oil, milk, sardines and tuna. It also gave her a cash gift and chocolates specially made for the occasion.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo mentioned women who had previously occupied the Asantehemaa throne, including Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III and Nana Yaa Asantewaa. She called for a partnership with the Asantehemaa to address issues affecting women, children and vulnerable groups, including domestic violence, harmful cultural practices and injustices related to modern technologies. The visit concluded with a group photograph, a cultural performance and dancing.
