China begins trials of private scientific vessel — ECNS
Sea trials of the 3,500-metric-ton deep-sea research vessel “Haiyin Jiake” began on Saturday in Wenling, Zhejiang Province, China. According to the local maritime administration, it is the first vessel of its kind in the country to be fully financed and built with private capital.
Construction financing
The construction of “Haiyin Jiake” was financed by 37 fishermen, who raised 150 million yuan — about $21 million. ECNS reports that the trials have begun.
The vessel is intended for deep-sea scientific research. The report notes that its creation with funds from private investors has become a new approach to supporting marine scientific research.

Monitoring of the trials
During the sea trials, the Taizhou Maritime Administration used intelligent maritime platforms, video surveillance systems and drone patrols for real-time three-dimensional monitoring.
The agency also issued weather warnings and safety reminders, and took measures to manage navigation risks in the trial area. According to ECNS, these measures were aimed at ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of the trials.
