In Lisbon, the Ukrainian community will hold a Borscht Day to raise funds for a vacation for the children of heroes
The Portuguese capital will host a charity cultural event called “Ukrainian Borscht Day,” aimed at raising funds to organize a summer camp for the children of fallen Ukrainian servicemen.
This large-scale patriotic and culinary event will bring together the Ukrainian diaspora, Portuguese citizens, and members of the international diplomatic corps.
The patriotic and culinary festival is scheduled for July 5, 2026. The program will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Bensaúde Park in Lisbon, located at Parque Bensaúde, Estrada da Luz, 1600—153 Lisbon.
The Association of Ukrainian Women in Portugal and the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal are co-organizing this large-scale event with official financial and organizational support from the San Domingos de Benfica District City Hall.
A rich cultural program has been prepared for Portuguese guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and members of the Ukrainian diaspora.

The organizers will set up a large food court featuring tastings of authentic Ukrainian borscht, homemade varenyky, garlic-flavored pampushky, and other traditional dishes and treats.
There will also be a charity fair featuring homemade baked goods in the park, showcasing the works of folk artisans and unique original artworks by Ukrainian artists.
The festival program will include a variety of cultural and artistic platforms to promote Ukrainian heritage abroad. Guests will be able to attend a fashion show featuring Ukrainian traditional costumes and contemporary designer vyshyvankas.
In addition, there will be a festive concert featuring Ukrainian and Portuguese performers, folk art groups, and the popular band Estrela Band.
The entertainment program will include a charity raffle, various activities, and fun surprises for children.
The main goal of this year’s Borscht Day is charitable. All proceeds from the sale of food, souvenirs, and raffle tickets will go toward the humanitarian project “Children of Heroes—Warmed by the Sun and Love 2.”
Natalia Varga, chairwoman of the Association of Ukrainian Women in Portugal, announced this on her Facebook page.
