In London, police seized a Ferrari Monza SP2 worth £3.7 million
London police seized a £3.7 million Ferrari Monza SP2 in the Mayfair area during an operation targeting uninsured drivers, as well as dangerous and anti-social driving. The supercar, registered in Dubai, had been in the UK for only one day. According to The Guardian, the car was being driven by someone with a provisional driver’s license who did not have insurance.
Instead of transporting the Ferrari on a tow truck, a Metropolitan Police officer personally escorted the open-top sports car to a police impound lot. Video footage of the incident shows the Ferrari Monza SP2 driving through Mayfair and the Marble Arch area, escorted by police cars and an empty tow truck.
The Ferrari Monza SP2 is a limited-edition model: the Italian manufacturer produced only 499 of these cars. The supercar was among 90 vehicles with a combined value of over £8 million that police seized over the weekend as part of a joint operation with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau.

The operation took place near Hyde Park and in the Kensington and Chelsea areas. The Metropolitan Police stated that, in the five years the operation has been running, this was the largest number of vehicles seized and the highest total value of those seized. Fifteen vehicles were confiscated under new powers that allow for their seizure without warning in cases of anti-social behavior.
During the operation, a man was also arrested on suspicion of dealing in stolen property and money laundering. He was found to be in possession of 19 bank cards issued in other people’s names and over £2,500 in cash. Another man, who was stopped for driving without insurance, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to sell.
