In Milan, Italy, a 60-year-old rabbi was physically attacked and verbally abused by three men while waiting for a bus at a stop in the Bande Nere district. The incident was reported on Wednesday, September 16, by Walker Meghnagi, president of Milan’s Jewish community.

Details of the attack

According to Meghnagi, the three men kicked and punched the rabbi. They knocked his hat off, trampled on it and spat at the victim. Meghnagi said that such a violent incident had not occurred before.

Meghnagi also told ANSA that, according to information he received, the three men are of Arab origin. ANSA presents the claim regarding their origin as Meghnagi’s words; in its report, it is not attributed to the police.

Investigation

Police are investigating the incident following the rabbi’s complaint. According to ANSA English, law enforcement officers have reportedly already identified the attackers.
