An unidentified object exploded in Moldova near the border with Ukraine

In Moldova, near the village of Krokmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district—which borders the Odesa region—a patch of scorched earth and fragments of metal and plastic were discovered following reports of an explosion. On the night of September 2, border patrols detected a sound resembling a missile flying overhead, and a few minutes later heard a powerful explosion that coincided with an air raid alert in the neighboring Odesa Oblast.

Although no official violation of Moldovan airspace was recorded, after receiving additional information from local residents, special forces were dispatched to the scene to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

On Sunday, August 2, air raid sirens were sounded for the civilian population in eastern Romania for the second time that day. The country’s Ministry of Defense radar surveillance system detected an aerial target near the river border with Ukraine at 3:09 p.m.
