Moldova is facing a diesel fuel shortage at more than 50 gas stations
A local shortage of diesel fuel has emerged in Moldova. As of July 27, 53 out of nearly 600 gas stations had no supply of this type of fuel, the country’s government reported.
According to data cited by Newsmaker, 53 out of 590 gas stations were left without diesel. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the situation is currently much better than during the fuel crisis in the spring of 2026, when a diesel shortage was reported at 182 gas stations.
The Moldovan government attributed the fuel shortage to several factors. These include a drop in water levels in the Danube, which complicated transportation, as well as the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which disrupted international logistics supply chains.
At the same time, the country’s authorities announced additional fuel deliveries. Over the past 24 hours, two barges carrying approximately 6,000 metric tons of diesel fuel arrived in Moldova. Another shipment of the same volume was expected on July 27.
The government expects these shipments to help quickly reduce the shortage at certain gas stations.
Earlier, the “Farmers’ Power” association warned of a worsening diesel fuel shortage at the height of the agricultural season. Representatives of the agricultural sector stated that fuel shortages and rising prices could negatively impact fieldwork and called on the authorities to take urgent measures.
