In the Netherlands, a man forced his partner to get 250 tattoos
In the Netherlands, a woman named Jouk spoke out about years of abuse at the hands of her former partner, Hans, who forced her to get about 250 tattoos on her body between 2020 and 2021.
According to the woman, the man purchased a tattoo machine online and tattooed his initials and name on her body, referring to her as his property. More than 90% of Joke’s body was covered in inscriptions, including on her face, chest, and other parts of her body.
The woman said that her partner also isolated her from her children and family, spent her money, and kept her confined in trailers and sheds.
After she reported the matter to local authorities, her former partner, according to media reports, was not held accountable.
Jouck is currently undergoing laser tattoo removal treatments. Over the past 2.5 years, she has already had 12 sessions. The total cost of completely removing all the tattoos is estimated at more than 100,000 euros.
The Dutch foundation Spijt van Tattoo is helping her pay for all the necessary procedures. Jouk has also become the face of the foundation’s campaign and is sharing her story to draw attention to the issue of violence.
