Nigerian court remands man in case of two children's deaths
The High Court of Benin in Nigeria has ordered the remand of 23-year-old Victor Nanboya, who is suspected of killing his older sister's two children — eight-year-old Praise Aloye and six-year-old Ogene Eze.
Detention for 14 days
Judge Terry Momodu granted the application filed by police prosecutor Emmanuel Ekibade. Nanboya was placed in a correctional facility for an initial period of 14 days until the Edo State Director of Public Prosecutions provides a legal opinion in the case.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, during the hearing, Nanboya admitted that he had committed the act and stated that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

Police version
According to the police, the suspect took the children into the forest under the pretext of collecting firewood. Law enforcement officers claim that he allegedly attacked them there and killed them with a machete.
According to police materials, the incident occurred on August 31 in a forest in Ayogwiri village, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. Nanboya is charged with one count of murder under Section 242(1) of the Edo State Criminal Law of 2022. The next hearing was scheduled for September 25.
