Recommendations for the entire country
Pakistan’s National Judicial Policy Making Committee, whose meeting was chaired by the country’s chief justice, approved a package of recommendations on February 11, 2026. It provided for uniform rates of such payments for judicial officers throughout Pakistan.
After that, on March 4, 2026, the Peshawar High Court simultaneously initiated two summaries for consideration and approval by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. One concerned replacing vehicles with payments for officials of the district judiciary, while the other concerned unifying their pay and allowances.
The finance department’s notification also sets out the terms for payments in lieu of official vehicles, fuel costs, maintenance and repairs. It provides a mechanism for retaining existing drivers and selling official vehicles at depreciated value.
