Six suspects detained in Pakistan over cyber harassment and blackmail — Dawn
In Pakistan, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Tuesday detained six suspects in cases involving online harassment, blackmail and threats in Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan. As Dawn reports, law enforcement officers seized several mobile phones and WhatsApp accounts during the operations, which they say are linked to those detained.
Digital materials from the seized devices have been preserved for further investigation and forensic examination.
Cases in Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan
In Lahore, the NCCIA detained a man named Iftikhar following a complaint from his former wife. According to the agency, he harassed and threatened the woman and allegedly blackmailed her with private photographs and videos. During an examination of his WhatsApp account, investigators say they found threatening messages and material of an objectionable nature. The suspect's mobile phone was sent for examination.
In Faisalabad, Asif and Irfan were detained in separate cases. They are suspected of harassing, threatening and blackmailing complainants via WhatsApp and social media using material of an objectionable nature.

In Multan, law enforcement officers detained Shoaib, Muhammad Salar and Ahmed Ali in three separate cases. They are being investigated on suspicion of electronically harassing women. Mobile phones were seized in each of these cases, and the digital evidence is undergoing examination.
Separate operations by the Federal Investigation Agency
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reported the detention of 18 people, including suspected human traffickers and wanted individuals. The operations took place in southern Punjab province and the Gujranwala region.
In particular, Atta Muhammad was detained in Dera Ghazi Khan on suspicion of receiving 800,000 Pakistani rupees from a complainant in exchange for a promise to arrange a work visa to Saudi Arabia. In Bahawalpur, Muhammad Waqas was detained in three human trafficking cases, as well as Akhtar Ali, who is suspected of receiving 1 million rupees in exchange for a promise to arrange a work visa to Bahrain.
In the Gujranwala region, the FIA detained at least 13 suspects in schemes involving sending people abroad and financial fraud. According to the agency, one of those involved received 15.4 million rupees from a complainant and did not return the money.
