Orbán's party accuses Ukraine of armed attack on the EU
Tomas Deich, a Member of the European Parliament from the Hungarian ruling party Fidesz, equated Ukraine's strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline with an armed attack on the European Union.
He is quoted by the portal 444.hu.
Deich believes that Ukraine is attacking the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which Hungary receives Russian oil, in order to supplement political, secret and media pressure on Hungary with military means.
In the same vein, the politician from Viktor Orbán's party also mentioned the explosions on the Russian Nord Stream gas pipelines, claiming without evidence that they were blown up on the orders of the Ukrainian state and military leadership.
‘An armed attack on infrastructure that serves the EU's energy security is nothing less than a military attack on the European Union, and in this situation, the question of Ukraine's accession to the EU should be removed from the agenda,’ he believes.
Recall that Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár said that Ukrainian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline ‘are not in its interest’ and hinted that further shelling could lead to a halt in Slovak diesel supplies.
On the night of 18 August, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces, struck the Nikolskoye oil pumping station in the Tambov region of Russia.
On 22 August, Hungary once again stopped receiving Russian oil. This happened after a drone strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline.
