Poland Considers Trial for Former Minister Following Hungarian Elections — Polsat News

Włodzimierz Czazasty, Speaker of the Polish Sejm, has backed the idea of establishing a State Tribunal to investigate former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who has fled to Hungary. This could become a reality following the victory of the opposition party “Tisa” in the country’s elections.

This was reported by Polsat News.

The Sejm Speaker noted that the opposition party “Tisa” has secured a constitutional majority in parliament and can therefore amend the law concerning the fugitive politician. As it became known, in January, Hungary made last-minute amendments to its legislation guaranteeing that Zobro will not be arrested in the country, even if Warsaw seeks to enforce a European arrest warrant.

“In light of what happened in Hungary, I see a reason to reopen the State Tribunal case against Ziobro. This is a symbolic moment,” the speaker said.

He noted that the prosecutor’s charges against the former minister “are enough for ten State Tribunals.”

Czazhasty stated that he would refer this matter to the relevant committee in the Sejm.
