In Poland, calls have been made for Tusk to strip Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle
Zbigniew Bogucki, Chief of Staff to the President of Poland, called on Prime Minister Donald Tusk to sign a decision stripping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle.
Bogucki devoted the bulk of his post to criticizing Donald Tusk over the appointment of judges.
At the same time, toward the end, he raised the issue of the high-profile situation surrounding the state award previously bestowed upon Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Instead of putting meaningless signatures on the acts appointing assessors—which have always borne only the signature of the President of the Republic of Poland— I urge you to find the courage to fulfill your duty and actually sign the presidential decree stripping the President of Ukraine of the Order of the White Eagle,” Bogutsky wrote.
According to available information, following Polish President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to strip Zelenskyy of the highest state award, the relevant document was also to be signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
At the same time, it is noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned the Order of the White Eagle even before this procedure was completed.
He published a statement to that effect on the social media platform X.
Earlier, former Czech Defense Minister and Chamber of Deputies member Jana Černochová called the far-right SPD party’s initiative to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Lion groundless and shameful.
The Czech right-wing populist SPD party stated that it would seek to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Czech Republic’s highest state award—the Order of the White Lion.
The decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Prime Minister of Poland.
