A Ukrainian woman was detained in Poland for illegally smuggling Belarusians
The Polish Border Guard detained a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman who, through a shell company, provided Belarusian citizens with forged documents to obtain Polish visas.
According to RMF24 on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the woman headed a firm in Łódź that was officially engaged in the service sector but actually served as a cover for illegal migration. According to the investigation, from December 2022 to June 2023, the suspect issued nearly 500 fake employment applications, charging up to 400 euros per document.
The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the district prosecutor’s office in Puck, has already identified 228 Belarusian citizens who used this scheme to obtain visas at consulates in Russia and Belarus. The suspect has been charged with organizing illegal border crossings and document forgery, for which she faces up to 8 years in prison. For the duration of the investigation, the prosecutor has prohibited the woman from leaving the country and placed her under police supervision. Law enforcement officials continue to work on identifying other individuals who may have been involved in the operation of the criminal network. Thus, Polish security agencies have dismantled a large-scale channel for smuggling illegal migrants through official institutions.
As a reminder, a 17-year-old Ukrainian was accused in Poland of sabotage on behalf of the Kremlin.
Poland is also deporting Ukrainians following clashes at a Max Korzh concert in Warsaw.
Police officers from the Polish city of Poddębice, together with border guards, stopped a Lexus in which a 37-year-old Ukrainian was attempting to transport two illegal migrants.
