In Seoul, South Korea, police detained a comedian suspected of assaulting a hired driver in a moving vehicle. As reported by the Korea Herald, the incident occurred after the man had consumed alcohol.

Detention after police report

Seocho District police booked the suspect without detention on suspicion of assaulting a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes. Officers detained him at the scene at around 1 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a report.

Details of the incident

The suspect was identified only by the surname Kim. According to police, he is a comedian who debuted through broadcaster KBS's open recruitment program.

Police said that Kim hired a driver on Saturday evening after visiting a bar in the Apgujeong area of southern Seoul. During the ride home, he allegedly grabbed the driver by the neck and began shaking him while the vehicle was moving. Police are investigating the circumstances of the case.
