In Syria, Fly Dar receives an air operator certificate — Jerusalem Post

In Syria, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport has issued airline Fly Dar an air operator certificate. It became the first private Syrian airline to receive such a document after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in December 2024, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Certificate in Damascus

The presentation ceremony took place on September 24 at the headquarters of the aviation authority in Damascus. It was attended by Civil Aviation Authority head Omar al-Hosari and Speaker of Syria's People's Assembly Abdul Hamid al-Awak.

The certificate was received on behalf of Fly Dar by the company's CEO and chairman, Captain Mohsen al-Sallal. Damascus International Airport is expected to become the carrier's main base.

Flight plans

According to al-Hosari, the company underwent a five-stage certification procedure that lasted about six months. It met the regulatory, technical and operational requirements necessary to move to commercial operations in accordance with Syrian civil aviation rules.

After certification, Fly Dar became Syria's third national air operator alongside state-owned Syrian Airlines and private Fly Cham. Al-Sallal said that the carrier plans connections between several Syrian cities, including Aleppo, Latakia, Deir ez-Zor and Qamishli.

The company has not yet announced the date for launching scheduled flights, its fleet composition or initial destinations. According to the publication, Syrian authorities are also working to restore airports, modernize air navigation systems and expand international air connections after years of war and isolation.
